It’s no secret that Edith is TERRIBLE for eating. She’s a junk food toddler, something I can’t bare because I love food and I would love to pass that on to my kids. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not adverse to them having chocolate and chips, geez we’ve eaten a Maccy’s on the way down the motorway this weekend and pretty much lived on a diet of sausage rolls, crisps and smores this weekend while camping. And let’s not forget the pizza.
No, I’m not against junk food and quinoa isn’t even in my store cupboard but I do really want to ensure that the kids get a balance. We eat mainly home cooked, veggie packed meals throughout the week and I think that is a good thing. It’s just Edith that worries me. After chattering to so many of you on the old Instagram, I’ve discovered that I’m very much not alone with my worries about vitamins and the overall health of my kids in relation to what they eat. In fact, so many of you have messaged me, chatted to me on Facebook or Instagram and made me feel so much less alone – I’ve also found that lots of you have recommended vitamin supplements if I’m really worried for that little piece of mind.
I’ve tried a few different brands, I’ve found that Edith is more likely to take them if they are dissolved into her beaker with juice or water, so when I was approached by Bio-Kult to try their probiotic for babies and toddlers, this was another angle I hadn’t considered. It’s a little known fact that 70% of our immune system is located in the gut, so whilst we’re all busy with the vitamins, not taking care of the gut too can be a bad thing.
Bio-Kult is a probiotic that contains several live strains of probiotic bacteria, high levels of omega, perplex probiotic and vitamin D’s (something that has recently been in the new because British kids have a deficiency of it!) – if you’re all like me and read that thinking “hmm, what the hell does all that mean” then it means that one sachet contains everything you need for your baby or toddler to balance out what they don’t already have from breast or formula milk. They seemed ideal as the correct dose is in individual sachets – perfect for taking out with you and even more perfect for adding to juice/water in a beaker.
Toby quite often suffers with tummy ache (not unlike his dad) and constipation. Probiotics are known to help with this, and with most gut related ailments such as colic, diarrhoea, and even help with eczema, hay fever and food intolerances. Obviously it’s important to make sure that if you are concerned about anything, you speak to your GP. Bio-Kult isn’t a medication or treatment, rather a helpful hand that tonnes of mamas have found super useful
So with all that in mind, and so many of you getting in touch to say that you have found you’re having exactly the same struggles with your toddler as me, I thought I would run a giveaway. I’ve had a few lately that have been really popular, so I think it’s a nice way to give back and share with everyone else. You can enter the giveaway via rafflecopter below.
Good luck!
Bio-kult is great! I’ve discovered it 5 years ago after reading thw GAPS book by Natasha McBride and it helped cure my daughter’s lactose intolerance. We’ve had them in the house all the time since then and she still has 2 capsules whenever she eats soup (that’s how we managed to give it to her). She has a healthy gut, whenever she picks up a stomach bug from school, she’s over it in half a day.
