Looking for ways to entertain your children in Gloucestershire and Cheltenham? I’ve compiled a list of everything I could find in one handy place!

Indoors

Wilson Gallery – Very child friendly art gallery with lots of term time and holiday time events for children. -Cheltenham

Museum of Gloucester – lots of family events usually – Gloucester

Mr Mulligans – The Lost World, enormous 36 hole indoor golf experience – Cheltenham

 

The Playfarm – Softplay situated in the Brewery complex – Cheltenham

Airborne – Trampoline park – Cheltenham

Funky Warehouse – Trampoline park and softplay – Cheltenham

X-Jump– Trampoline park with loads of parking – Gloucester

Animals

All Things Wild – A brilliant day out with animals and dinosaurs, new adventure playground and so much more. Often run a Wild Explorers Holiday Club – Honeybourne

Cotswold Farm Park – Lots of farm animals, tractor rides, large play areas, petting barn and large cafe – Kineton, near Cheltenham

Westonbirt Arboretum – Lovely big arboretum with lots of explore. Many activities in term and holiday time including the popular Julia Donaldson trails – Tetbury

Chedworth Roman Villa – National Trust property with plenty to do for children – Yanworth, Nr Cheltenham

Prinknash Abbey Bird Park – Seem to have daily feeding events, check website for details – Cranham, Gloucester

Cattle Country – Lots of play areas indoors and out. Large barns with soft play and there is a large paddling pool area as well – Berkeley

Birdland – Lots of birds! Including penguins that you can see swimming through a viewing window. – Bourton-on-the-Water

Cotswold Wildlife Park – Loads of zoo animals in beautifully kept grounds, huge play area with castle, train ride and large restaurant which can get very busy at peak times – Burford (Technically Oxfordshire but not too far!)

Cotswold Falconry Centre – Daily flying shows – Moreton-in-Marsh

Getting Active

Far Peak – also climbing – lots of activities for children – see here – Northleach

Crickley Hill – Lots of open space for walking, a new cafe and decent parking. Various holiday events. – Birdlip, near Cheltenham

Dean Heritage Centre – see events page here – Soudley, Forest of Dean

Batsford Arboretum – Another lovely arboretum with lots of open space and a lovely restaurant and shop. Often have children’s trails on in holidays –Moreton-in-Marsh

Westonbirt Arboretum – Lovely big arboretum with lots of explore. Many activities in term and holiday time including the popular Julia Donaldson trails – Tetbury

Pedal-a-bike-away – Bike centre with cafe and family friendly bike trails for all different levels, the family trail is very long for little ones riding alone but my two love the skills section area – Forest of Dean

Cotswold Water Park – Find special events on their website, the beach is always a hit with our two though! – South Cerney

Parks

There are loads of parks around to enjoy too, hopefully there will be a few nice outdoorsy weather days in there!

Pittville – Recently redone play area, cafe inside the play area which is always a bonus in my book! There is a sand and water area too so spare clothes are a good idea! There are also ducks on the two lakes, two other cafes, one on either side of the underpass, lots of cycling/scooting paths and a smaller play area on the other side, plus a nature play area with logs to balance on etc – Cheltenham

The Bathurst Estate and Cirencester Park – On my list of places to visit as I’ve heard great things – Cirencester

Obviously this is not a comprehensive list of all the things there are to do in Gloucestershire, and all details are correct at the time of writing but make sure you check websites etc for details and availability before visiting anywhere.
