Hands up if you come home from holiday feeling slightly bummed out but declaring “I can’t wait for a proper cuppa.”
My hand is firmly in the air – even though I am a coffee lover, I do like a jolly good cup of tea in the evenings, I mean, hello – British. Of course I do.
One of the things that none of us looks forward to though is that argh-we’ve-got-no-milk feeling when you arrive home and remember that you switched off all the appliances (2-3 of which now refuse to switch back on in protest that you abandoned them over the holiday period) and cleared out the fridge so that you didn’t come home to your very own home grown penicillin.
No one likes that feeling. You’ve collected the dog (who is ignoring you), collected the baggage in what feels like the world’s longest conveyor belt ever and now you have to go to the supermarket whilst you battle jet lag and presumably children who didn’t sleep on the plane AT ALL but flatly refused to acknowledge tiredness like it’s a weakness.
Well, forget that – Tesco have got you covered.
You guys will know that Tesco are one of the supermarkets that I absolutely love and I really enjoy working with, so it was a no brainer for me when they asked if I would like to tell you all about their new Same day delivery experience. At the time I was just about to go on holiday so I jumped at the chance knowing that being able to put in an order for food whilst sat on the plane at 8am in the morning (which was delayed by nearly 2 hours) in Lisbon waiting for it to take off and feel secure in the knowledge that I could choose for it to be delivered to my home at a time of my choosing that exact same evening after a long drive home. Well, it’s magic really isn’t it?
No more empty fridge or dangerously out of date yoghurt that has started to grow wings.
No more relying on family to bring over that much needed cuppa.
No more super market runs on the way back from the airport feeling like an extra in The Walking Dead as you go.
Just process your shop as normal, you can do it via the website or groceries for iPhone app when you get to the checkout you will see an option that offers you that very same day as a deliver option. If you do it first thing in the morning that will allow you to have a slightly earlier option, but when I’ve done it it’s been between 6-8pm. It’s super easy to do and both the app and site are easy to navigate.
It’s not just for us jolly holiday makers either. As I type this it’s 13.56 in the afternoon and I haven’t left my desk since arriving home from the school run. My workload is HUGE and because I am virtually a one woman band here, outsourcing what little my control-freak nature will allow me to delegate out, I just don’t always have the time to make that “big shop” – you know, the one where you get more than an errant carrot and some bread in the hope that you can keep operation-feed-the-kids ticking over for another day or two without spending an hour in the vacuum that is the supermarket. Especially now it’s nearing… Christmas (sorry, I said it, I can’t help it!)
It’s for every time you think that you can last one more day to find your husband’s eyes twitching at you at 5.42pm when he’s stood in the kitchen looking at his options of half a manky pepper and a slice of mildly stale bread.
It’s for every time you *think* you still have enough for the kids to shove in their packed lunches and have to offer up an apologetic smile when they get a couple of cubes of cheese and a few mini slices of apple regret.
It’s for when you go to the kitchen in the morning and use the last teaspoon of powdered coffee… actually no wait, it’s not for then, that’s ridiculous, you would clearly go to the shop because it’s same day delivery, not 30 minute delivery – but you get the point.
For all the times you just think you can make it one more day without grabbing the essentials or you just don’t have the time to go and do a big shop but you need it now – it’s the option. Tesco Same day delivery is there to help you and me out.
