Stress Awareness month with Mini Rose & Me

It’s Stress Awareness month! If you haven’t seen my post here about Stress Awareness month and the stress awareness takeover, then go and check it out so that you can see what is going on!

I’m so excited to be guest posting for the lovely Harriet today to help and raise awareness for stress. With that I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Kelly-Anne and I am a writer, blogger and mum. Together with my husband Tony and my daughter Amelia we live in the beautiful countryside of Norfolk and we love nothing more than exploring adventures. I am a self-certified tea addict, with a love of the 50s, stationary and way too much Harbio. I l first launched my family lifestyle and beauty blog Mimi Rose and Me to aim to inspire and empower other women who have struggled with fertility. However, somewhere along the way becoming a mother has changed my life and with my blog my life it is far more fulfilling than I ever imagined.

1. Do you suffer with stress frequently or occasionally?

Yes I do, ever since the birth of my daughter. I wouldn’t say it occurs everyday, it depends on the situation.

2. What sort of things cause you stress?

Parenthood can really be stressful. I am finding it especially hard at the moment as we are well and truly into a sassy stage, and she tells me no or completely ignores me. Family is something else that stresses me out too, whether it’s a situation or an event we have to attend, there’s always something to stress about. I am sure that I am not alone when I say that you can’t always choose my family.

3. Does anything in particular make stress worse for you?

To be honest, I think I have always been a person that stresses. However since the birth of my daughter I find it harder and harder to hide my stress. I know that it has something to do with my anxiety, but I can’t always get my point across in a positive and calm way.

4. Does stress have an impact on your physical health?

Yes, as soon as I go to the doctors they always check my blood pressure and tell me that I need to find ways to try and keep my stress levels down

5. What do you do to alleviate stress?

For me it is something that I am still trying to work out. At the moment I do try to avoid too much caffeine during the day, get a good night’s sleep (toddler permitting), and something that I started this year is meditating.

6. Do you think more needs to be done to raise awareness of what causes stress and the impact it has on us and those around us? If yes, what would you do or like to see done?

When it comes to stress I don’t think people have a great understanding. Not only can stress affect your mind, it can always affect you in the long term leading to a whole range of illnesses, but more importantly your family and other people around you. So raising awareness for stress is something that I would be passionate about. I don’t think that you will have a great understanding if it not something that you have to deal with on a regular basis, so by raising awareness will help people become more informed and hopefully inspire them to want to help others.

7. Do you have any tips for anyone dealing with stress?

Try to limit all those teas and coffees, even it may be hard. Try and get a full night’s sleep and takes up new hobbies that will help to alleviate your stress levels. You could try reading, therapeutic colouring books, mediation or even yoga!
