It’s Stress Awareness month! If you haven’t seen my post here about Stress Awareness month and the stress awareness takeover, then go and check it out so that you can see what is going on!
I am Pete, married and have 3 children. I blog at Household Money Saving which gives ideas how to save money and how to earn extra in your free time. My full time job involves working for the government.
1.) Do you suffer with stress frequently or occasionally?
I suffer from stress very occasionally. I’m a very laid back person, so it takes a lot to stress me out.
2.) What sort of things cause you stress?
Work is my main source of stress. I work all kinds of shifts and can end up working over 15 hours in a day! I will sometimes have to go to court, which causes a lot of pressure.
3.) Does anything in particular make stress worse for you?
My kid not understanding the pressure I sometimes face. It’s not their fault as they are too young to understand, but running around after them when all you want to do is go to bed can be hard.
4.) Does stress have an impact on your physical health?
I’m certainly more lethargic when I’m stressed.
5.) What do you do to alleviate stress?
I either go to bed and listen to an audiobook, or play video games. Anything that takes my mind off of things.
6.) Do you think more needs to be done to raise awareness of what causes stress and the impact it has on us and those around us? If yes, what would you do or like to see done?
At the moment, my work does plenty to raise the issues of mental awareness and stress, but I think that’s due to the nature of my job. I hope that this is done in every workplace, with somebody to talk to when you have concerns.
7.) Do you have any tips for anyone dealing with stress?
Seek help. There are far more people out there that are suffering than you can imagine. Talking it through can really help.
Thanks Pete!
