1.) Do you suffer with stress frequently or occasionally?
If I’m being honest I would say I’m nearly always stressed! I like to consider myself a pretty laid back person who doesn’t take too much notice of other people but in reality I am a bit of an empath and take everything to heart. I’m also extremely self critical which means I’m often too hard on myself, and so more stressed! God don’t I sound fun…
2.) What sort of things cause you stress?
Not meeting my own expectations, family tension, running late (I’m always late) money! You name it.
3.) Does anything in particular make stress worse for you?
Yes definitely if I think people don’t empathise or perceive my problems to be small – it makes me feel stupid and alone.
4.) Does stress have an impact on your physical health?
I think it can! If I’m very stressed I struggle to get to sleep and being tired means I’m more likely to eat rubbish – vicious circle.
5.) What do you do to alleviate stress?
I try to get outdoors, share the load with friends – that kind of thing. Sometimes I just have a hard earned gin.
6.) Do you think more needs to be done to raise awareness of what causes stress and the impact it has on us and those around us? If yes, what would you do or like to see done?
Yes I think it’s a bit down played – like we’re all stressed in some way for some reason but that doesn’t mean it’s not a big deal. Do you know what I mean? Like everyone stress and feelings are valid whether it’s a massive issue or everyday stuff grinding you down.
7.) Do you have any tips for anyone dealing with stress?
Share the load for sure. Also make a plan on how to change or improve the situation that’s causing the stress. Maybe it’s something you can actually erase, like a toxic friendship or an element of your job that’s unnecessary and unsatisfying.
