What’s happening to baby this week?
Right now, baby is about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. The legs are much more developed, and the eyes have moved closer to the front of the head so baby is looking less and less like an alien! There won’t be any hair yet, but bizarrely toenails have started to grow (cringe) and the baby’s ears are pretty much in place. Amazingly, baby’s heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase! No wonder I’m so sleepy!
The reality: How have I been feeling this week?
Well, funnily enough apart from a cold and two toddlers who think sleeping is an optional game (by the way, they opt out) I have so much more energy now. I feel far more alert and awake than I have been throughout this whole pregnancy and I feel as though I can get some serious work done without the need for matchsticks to keep my eyes open. I can also entertain the idea of my husband coming within 100 yards of me, and I have been known to throw him the come hither glance once or twice this week… right before falling asleep, but still the gesture was there.
I haven’t been as hungry this week either, which is perfect because it will mean this extreme weight gain is going to slow right down… maybe. I have preferred to nibble bits and bobs without the desire to trough my way through my portion and any other unsuspecting persons!
Still getting the odd queasy moment, though I count myself lucky that is all and avoid thinking about it, after all, it could be so much worse.
Cravings.
As I am writing this I have an intense need for some ASDA chicken spring rolls. They were given to me on the off chance at a picnic and now I need them. No, really I do. Oh and Mars bar ice creams. The big ones.
The bad, adorable and downright funny.
Funny:
My husband backing away from me slowing, while thrusting a standard Mars Bar at me, as he realised he had just eaten the last of the Mars bar ice creams. An epic fail on his behalf, and one that require a late night run to the shop.
Adorable:
Reuben running up to me before he headed off with his Grandma for the day and kissing me. Then running back to kiss my belly. *Heart Melts*
Bad:
Realising that I was pregnant with a really bad chesty cough. Considering that bladder retention isn’t great at this point anyway, it was time to invest in panty liners.
