I do love a toy that has a genuinely good idea behind it or that can double as something else. In our home we are really passionate about story telling and getting the boys to be creative, so when I came across these wonderful story telling dice from Owl & Cat Designs it was only to be expected that it was love at first sight.
The dice are made from solid oak which means they are perfect for decorating little display shelves. There are three dice, one has phrases like ‘wild wood’ or ‘out to sea’, one focuses on characters such as the ‘brave knight’ or the ‘detective dog’ and the last one features objects like the ‘wishing well’ and the ‘magic wand’. The idea is that your child and you sit together (another thing that I really wish we all did more of – sitting and talking with our children) and roll the dice. With each roll you will get the beginning of a wonderful story… Can you imagine, the ‘Brave Knight’ falling down the ‘wishing well’ in the ‘wild wood’? It’s enough to spark any great story… Especially if the ‘Detective Dog’ uses his ‘Magic Wand’ to save him!
