Some of you might know that I work with Sky TV as an ambassador (we have been paying customers of sky in this family since it first came out!) but what you might not have seen is that I was invited to an exclusive event recently called Sky Up Next that let everyone in on the upcoming Sky offerings for 2020 and let me tell you, there are some doozies on that listing!
I thought I would share with you the programmes that I’m the most excited to see and give you a little bit about them.
Brassic Season 2
If you haven’t seen season 1, get off the phone or computer and GO WATCH. It is, without doubt, one of the funniest tv programmes I have watched for a time – I liken it to Shameless but it just seems to have a better storyline that suckers you in and won’t let go. It follows a group of friends and their misadventures, but there is a hilarity to it that never seems to detract from the deeper moments. Not only is season 2 coming to your screens, but season 3 has already been commissioned – it’s THAT good. Coming for you in May.
Gangs of London
If you are a fan of action and drama then I think this one could be for you. It looks… well, the word that springs to mind is sensational. The show is about a young man who takes over his father’s gang business when he’s murdered, and takes it upon himself to find out who and why. It’s a trip into modern gangs, and with Joe Cole of Peaky Blinders fame at the helm it feels like it could be one of the biggest things on TV in a few years. If anything, it’s made me want to watch Peaky Blinders again, and I can’t wait to see this one on my screen. Coming 2020 (teasing buggers)
A Discovery of Witches
It’s back! I bloody loved the first season of this – I’d never heard of the books and sat to read them in only a few sittings after I saw this show. It’s a fantasy lovers dream and has just the right mix of romance, drama and action you would hope for from a witches, demons and vampires series. This is totally up my street and one I will no doubt be skivving off work to watch. Coming 2020.
The Third Day
This looked just like my cup of tea – it stars Jude Law, Naomie Harris and a pretty impressive cast of talent. From what little I can see of the six part series, it appears to be a bit trippy, something a little bit unusual and a really good chiller/thriller style drama. I’m excited for it. It reminds me of True Detectives from the trailer – the first series, you know, the good one.
Two Weeks to Live
Now this I can’t wait for and oh my it looks like it’s going to be an action packed barrel of dark humour and exceptional stunts, all spear headed by Maisie Williams who I’m a big fan girl of anyway. The show is set around Maisie’s character who is anything but an ordinary teenage girl and is on a mission to seek revenge and find out what happened to her father… except she ends up dragging a love interest along. It looks brilliant.
