Make a messy in style with KidUnk play suits

Boy that weather has changed hasn’t it? It’s cooler, wetter and that means MUDDIER!

As I have children who attend a Forest school and we live in rural North Yorkshire, we are the type of family that doesn’t let this stop us – hell no, we power through, wrap up warm and get our splash on. Autumn is one of my favourite months, if not my favourite. It’s such a beautiful time of year and if you live near woodland or beaches, it’s the ideal time of year to go foraging, rock pool exploring and enjoying the magic around you.

On the subject of magic, the kids are really into their crafting at the moment and after speaking to our friend’s over at KidUnk they sent us a special wand making kit so that we would be able to make some wands before we took Yoda for a woodland walk.

Speaking of KidUnk, we’ve been trying out their unique playsuits, ready for the splishy splashy weather. I am SO impressed with these suits, not only do they go up to Toby’s size (3-4) but they appear to be totally paint, mud, water, grime and toddler proof.

Firstly, the material is Teflon coated so it is wipeable (snot/mud/ketchup/various disgusting substances that kids like to cost themselves in!) and resistance to water and stains – perfect for splashing in puddles, flicking paint brushes and rolling down wet hills. The top and the bottoms can be worn separately so Toby is going to be taking his trousers to school for Forest schooling; which is great as they are fleecy lined and easily slip over his trousers if we want them to, but the beauty behind these clothes is that they are actual CLOTHES as well so no need for anything underneath – unless you want to. No more uncomfortable Michelin man style outfits! If you want to, you can wear the pair and even zip them together to avoid getting anything at all on clothes, from splashes of muddy water up the back to leaves and sand in the pants!

I feel really secure knowing that the kids are going to be warm and virtually weather proof this winter. Like a lot or people we have “messy clothes” and “smart/newer” clothes, I even bought Edith some school uniforms from Asda and took the hem up so that she had something I really didn’t mind needing to bin if I went to pick her up and it looked like someone had dipped her in a vat of paint or taken her to a spa for a mud treatment but forgetting to remove the clothes first… but should we have to do that every time? She has SO many clothes, beautiful clothes that I just want to see her in all the time, that I adore and want to photograph her in for my highly curated moments on Instagram… but if we go somewhere where there is a high probability of toddler meets cow pat happening, she wears her messy clothes. Eventually you realise they have grown out of their glorious outfits and you’ve either worn them once or twice, or you still have the tags on.

With KidUnk I’m SO confident that Edith and Toby won’t damage their clothes that they are wearing their newest Autumn wardrobe finds underneath in these pictures – you can’t tell because they are SO well covered. What I can tell you is that with a quick wash of the hands and peel off of their rather muddy suits after our conker expedition, they were ready to go out and watch a movie!

On a final note, both kiddos are wearing KidUnk wellies – I’m loving these and I’ve found them a god send for the cooler weather in the last week. They are fleece lined and THANKFULLY they have the tighten top so that Edith can’t fill her boots with leaves, conkers and twigs (which she likes to do!)
