I’ve been asked to do some pretty random things in my career as a parent blogger (family fortunes for pushchairs anyone?) but I honk hands down the most random thing I have ever been sponsored to do is be interviewed by Cat Balding, feline extraordinaire, for the launch of a Cat food brand at the ultimate dog show, Crufts. Yup, you read all of that correctly, you haven’t had one too many coffees and accidentally drank too much Calpol 6+.
A couple of weeks ago the furry version of the Oscars, also known as Crufts, took place and it was filled to the rafters with fluffy, hairy, silly and quite frankly bizarre pooches of all varieties. From chihuahuas to Great Danes, the best of the best sauntered in with their tails a-wagging to be fawned over by the masses who were duped into spending £100 on a dog collar because it was bespoke and, um, doesn’t your puppy deserve the best? Thought so.
Anyway, whilst these canine delights were sauntering around and frolicking for the judges amusement, one feline food stall was erected by well known (and rather delicious – if Yoda is to be believed) pet food brand Lily’s Kitchen. Yep, Lily’s Kitchen went rogue and crossed over to the dark side. To add insult to injury, they flaunted their new alliance with the cats at the very place that is meant to hail dogs as the greatest – and they did it with a fancy (it really was fancy) stand AND a feline commentator in the form of Cat Balding. Not to be confused with Clare Balding – who Cat later interviewed (when she found time between purring and Cat napping) – Cat was majestic, if a little aggressive when her cat nip demands weren’t met..
I was lucky enough to have a chat with Cat Balding at the Lily’s Kitchen Cat food stand (I complimented her hair and scratched her ears… I’m a feline master) before grabbing a goody bag to bring from to Nala, which has been given the seal of approval after I came down to find the packed of treats shredded one morning. Que a very satisfied Siamese fur ball looking replete with little treats scattered around her like some kind of scene from a fun night out circa 2005. Naughty puss. Nala has also given her seal of approval to the tasty food, which is filled with goodness and no nasties. Something that is so important now that she is getting older. We usually just feed our cats dry food but quite often they don’t get enough moisture (cats avoid bodies of water so don’t always use a water bowl) so wet food really is important for them – something I didn’t actually realise! Anyway, Lily’s Kitchen is grain free and wholly nutritious for your kitty – without any need to supplement them anything else.
It wasn’t just Nala that was given a little treat from Lily’s Kitchen either. Nope, our dogs Yoda and Barbie (I’ll let you work out which one is the chihuahua if you don’t already know Yoda…) were also gifted with some of the newest tins of dog food from Lily’s Kitchen. We have to be SO careful with Yoda and what he eats because he is intolerant to grain and ends up with nasty skin infections – the chihuahua is pretty much up for anything, Yoda is just a fancy fussy pants. The poohed have enjoyed delights like Sunday Lunch, English Breakfast and Coronation Chicken… which literally are what they say on the tin. All the ingredients are listed – no grains, no nasties and if Yoda can eat it, any dog can.
To top off the fab (and bizarre) day, I got to see Yoda’s breeders, his littermates AND his sire (Dad)… in fact, his brother won the best puppy in his class!
Do you have pets?

Looks like Nala liked those treats hehe! X
