I live really close to the rather glorious city of York. I’ve always adored shopping in York, not only is it beautiful, filled with everything from big chain stores to a delightful mismatch patchwork of quirky independent stores down the small back streets known as The Shambles.
One such place is Essence of Peru, which is a family run shop just down one small cobbled street, opposite a very lovely coffee bar… Which makes it all the more perfect if you ask me. Essence of Peru sell all sorts of wonderful things, from Peruvian clothing to adorable handcrafted wooden swords and shields and, lastly, to the most beautiful Alpaca fur teddies.
Ive just bought Edith one of these alpaca teddies for her birthday and I have a feeling I am going to have a fight break out between her and Toby who is obsessed with all things soft and snuggly at the moment. I can’t quite explain how soft the bear is but if you go along the lines of new baby skin and kitten fluff, you’re getting there.
The teddies are available in three sizes and different colours, and best of all you can order them online. I had to share this with you all because the shop is so quaint, I love to support local and I’ve never seen a teddy quite like this before. If teddies aren’t your bag, they also make alpacas, cats, Guinea pigs and plenty of other animals for your tot to snuggle. It’s also worth noting that absolutely no animals are harmed in the making of any of the products – their glorious fleece is cut every year and some ingenious person had the idea to make a teddy out of it!

Ps. I’ve thrown the name Al the Alpaca out there for Edie’s teddy. I know, I’ll expect my comedy gold medal in the post. 😉
