I think there is a lot to be said for traditional games, or in some cases really ancient games that are totally stripped back, without any gizmos or gadgets.
Tangram, if you don’t because I bet you will have played it as a child, is a brilliant ancient game from China which involves seven pieces of card, cut into triangles, that can be used to make limitless shapes and patterns. Remember it now? I have fond memories of my Granddad cutting up bits of paper like this and showing me how to make a swan, or a girl etc. It was wonderful and so much fun for both of us.
In their usual style Mon Petit Art (one of my favourite brands for kids art supplies and design led toys) have taken the game and given it a beautiful modern design to freshen it up. The cards for this game are double sided and come in two colours, with a sheet of over 200 designs to make and follow.
This is a great game for taking travelling with you, on a plane, ferry or even a car with a tray on the child’s lap – it provides hours of entertainment and can’t ever really get boring!
Check it out at my favourite online toy store Toyella.
