Johnson’s Baby Products :: Myth Busting

Bath time is one of the highlights of the day over here. Admittedly, the whale meme that makes it’s way around the tinterweb is an accurate depiction, water rarely stays in the tub and it gets silly and messy, but it’s fun and the kids love it.

I get asked all the time what I use to wash the children, especially after posting about Edith hating having her hair washed and our little mermaid trick. The answer? Johnson’s Baby products.

Now I know you might have heard some stuff, controversial stuff, stuff that makes you want to run for the hills and pull out your best Edvard Munch Scream face – I totally get it, but there is value in not believing everything that you read on the internet (the irony that you are reading this online isn’t lost on me, but bear with me) and I wanted to share with you what I have learnt about Johnson’s baby since becoming a Johnson’s ambassador last month.

Johnson’s baby has been a part of my family for as long as I can remember, it was the first thing that I was washed in as a baby, the lotion was used to give me baby massages and the talc was used to dry my tush. When I was older the talc was my saviour when I had what is oh-so-affectionately known as chub rub and now, my own children are Johnson’s babies. In more recent years Johnson’s baby has received a torrent of bad press online – often steeped in misinformation which is such a shame because the products really are fantastic and something that millions of people have been using, with no issues, on their children for years and years.

So let’s investigate:

·       Johnson’s baby products are free from parabens.

·       Johnson’s baby products are free from Formaldehyde.

·       Johnson’s baby products are free from phthalates.

·       Johnson’s baby products are free from alcohol.

·       Johnson’s baby products are free from soap.

·       Johnson’s baby Top to Toe products are recommended and supported by the Royal College of Midwives.

·       Johnson’s baby Top to Toe products are CLINICALLY proven to be as gentle as water.

·       Johnson’s baby products are safe from birth.

·       Johnson’s baby products do not cause cancer.

·       Johnson’s baby products are free from asbestos.

·       Johnson’s baby products are not tested on animals

Here’s what else I know about Johnson’s and Johnson’s: they care. Now I know that sounds corny and if you are the type of person that believes that a big corporation can’t possibly care about anything but it’s profit line – been that person myself a number of times – then I doubt I can convince you otherwise, but having met with David Mays who is the Senior Director of Global Scientific Engagement for Johnson’s and Johnson’s, it’s clear for me to see that the company is deeply involved in science, and specifically using it to make the world a better place.

I’m willing to bet that you didn’t know that the overwhelming majority of scientific research papers in this industry are written and published by Johnson’s and that their research in their labs is used by pharmaceutical, medical and scientific industries around the world? They are.

Now we’ve done a bit of myth busting, I wanted to share with you our favourite Johnson’s products and why we love them so much.

Johnson’s No More Tangles shampoo and conditioner.

The difference that this has made to Edith’s hair is unreal – her hair isn’t a struggle to comb through anymore and we are all so much happier for it! We’ve also noticed that the No More Tears formula means her eyes aren’t stinging which they were when I was using my shampoo on her hair (something you actually shouldn’t do because children’s and adult’s hair is very different!)

Johnson’s baby Top to Toes wash

When the kids were tiny this was my go-to and it has remained that way, in fact years ago, before I ever worked with Johnson’s baby, I included their Top to Toe wash cloths in my “must have” for flying with children. The smell is amazing and you won’t find anything gentler.

Johnson’s Baby bedtime baby bath

This makes me fall asleep, never mind the kids. I remember using this religiously with Reuben and loving the way that it relaxed him. We also used the bedtime oil when we did our baby massage course (remember those post natal courses that you could take when you had one child?)

Johnson’s Baby lotion

This has been so useful to help ward off the dry skin on my shins. I didn’t actually know prior to working with Johnson’s baby that it’s important to moisturise your child’s skin every day. Did you know that? Children’s skin becomes drier faster than ours – so Toby’s dry skin really need the moisture that the lotion locks in place.

Last, but not least: Johnson’s Baby Talcum powder

Talc has been an absolute lifesaver for me. It’s one of the few things that has made a huge difference to my prickly heat rashes and when we were in Cuba for our honeymoon is was a MASSIVE essential!

So there you go, here marks the start of my year long ambassadorship with Johnson’s baby. You have any questions? Ask em! I will do my best to answer and if I can’t I will do my best to find the answer for you.
