Thanks to this heat wave I’ve been able to indulge myself and make lots of ice pops for myself, Adam and the kids – which I don’t even have to feel guilty about because they are so much cheaper and healthier than shop bought popsicles. In my opinion, Zoku is the best pop maker ever, but if you don’t have one, these recipes are easy enough to adapt!
I’ve put together 5 of my favourite online recipes, so that you too can enjoy these wonderful, healthy alternatives during this summer like weather!
1. Watermelon Pops
These are just so yummy and nothing is more refreshing than the sweet flavour of watermelon on a hot day! The “seeds” are made from chocolate chips so they are a super tasty treat! These look amazing from Our Family of Seven – they have LOADS of other recipes too!
2. Lemon Drop Cheesecake pops
This is so refreshing! I know a lot of people think lemon and cream just won’t work when you try it at home, but trust me – it does! I found this on the fabulous Tater Tots and Jello blog – it’s a hive of awesome, you really ought to have a look!
3. Key lime pie pop
This si so easy to do, and it really does taste just like key lime pie – if you are giving this to the kids and they don’t want the crushed “base” in the middle, then leave it out. Best thing about this? It’s less than 400 calories as the blog name would suggest: 400calories or less!
4. Mango Lassi pop
My boys are such fans of mango, literally they cannot get enough, and I think that is great – its a wonderfully beneficial fruit! This one is from This West Coast Mommy.
5. Apple, Orange and Pear pop
Simplicity at it’s best – let’s be honest, this is fool proof, and is sure to be a big hit with the kids and mama too! Straight from the zoku site too!
So that’s it – there are thousands of ice pop recipes out there for amazing do it yourself popsicles, and you really should indulge this summer and get yourself a pop maker!
